I wanted to give everyone an update on what's
happening in my life, and how those events have impacted my
writing. As some of you know, I lost my dad a while back. I
decided to put aside my next book (The Regency) while my mom
and I took care of him and his place. He did survive the original
illness, but it caused an enormous amount of damage to his body,
and took his life five months later. After taking care of his
estate and finally returning to my book, my mom started showing
some strange physical symptoms as well. Her own illness turned
out to be a rare form of brain cancer, and I spent nearly four
months helping my stepfather take care of her until the end.
All of this has taken a massive toll on me. I
was extremely close to both of my parents, but especially my
mom. She was actively involved in my writing career as well
-- she was always the first person to read through my manuscripts
and find my typos and confusing storylines. I also used her
honesty as reassurance that I was on the right track.
Today I'm writing once again, but due to the long
delay I've made the decision to set The Regency aside for the
moment, and to focus instead on the 4th book in the Grays Harbor
Series, titled Oakville. I'll finish The Regency after Oakville
is published.
Signed copies will once again be offered on Ebay
soon, and in the meantime you can always find them in some of
the local shops listed here.
Thanks for being patient. I truly appreciate it,
James Bierce
